Sne!

Last week winter finally decided to show up with some snow and subzero temperatures. Despite being Scandinavian, Copenhagen only gets snow once or twice a year, so the novelty factor is extremely high.

I thought everyone sweltering in Sydney would like to see how the other half are living right now, so I took some photos around our neighbourhood. A few of the later pics I shot while cycling home from the supermarket so they’re not all stunningly scenic, but hopefully give a more realistic impression of the city in the snow than gratuitous photos of Nyhavn…  but first, let’s start with some gratuitous photos of Nyhavn:

They were actually still working away on the boat in the foreground, despite the conditions – I guess that’s what the tarp is for?

Life without a car: snowy food shopping edition

There really is nothing more fun than whizzing around town on your bike while powdery snow is falling. Sadly, the opposite applies to attempting the same feat in the rain, which has been our predicament since Thursday when some drizzle kicked in and all the snow got washed away. Ah well, snowy Copenhagen was lovely while it lasted…
